Exeter City Living

Wholly owned by Exeter City Council, we are a profit-for-purpose company with strong social and environmental values. We invest in the local communities we work with, to help create sustainable local neighbourhoods that contribute to a sense of place and enhance biodiversity. At Exeter City Living we create homes that are energy efficient, high quality and great to live in. We save families money on their energy bills and provide meaningful value to our occupiers by providing beautiful homes that really work for modern city life. Our projects are certified to the Passivhaus standard, which reduces energy usage by using high levels of insulation and airtightness. We also work with Building Biology principles, using natural, non-toxic materials in the interiors of our homes so the internal air quality is very high. Our team has extensive experience of delivering Passivhaus developments in Exeter, including Knights Place (one of the earliest Passivhaus developments in the UK), Edward’s Court Extra Care Village and St Sidwell’s Point (the first Passivhaus leisure centre in the UK).

Avril Baker Consultancy

ABC specialises in devising and running public consultation programmes for major planning and development projects, working particularly in the areas of design, planning and property development. ABC, as an independent facilitator, leads on pre-planning public consultation for Exeter City Living, working in conjunction with project team. Pre-application consultation takes place with key stakeholders, near neighbours and the local community prior to submission of a planning application. The culmination of our work is the production of a Report of Community Involvement which forms part of the required planning documents.
